Dales attraction now serving Mad Hatter Tea
A lakeside Mad Hatters Tea Party, featuring characters from Alice in Wonderland, marked the start of a new partnership between two family-run businesses.
Michael and Judith Harrison, Directors of the Mad Hatter Tea Company based in Richmond, are delighted to see their unique blend of tea pouring from the teapots of the Yorkshire Dales!. They've teamed up with Jamie and Amy Roberts who run Kilnsey Park near Grassington, to provide the tea for the Kilnsey Park Restaurant. Mad Hatter Tea will also be available to buy from the Kilnsey Park Farm Shop.
The tea, ethically sourced and noted for its generous blush of colour and richness of taste, was developed following 10 years of painstaking research. Mad Hatter Tea was given its name to mark the association between Lewis Carroll and Richmond. The author spent his early years in the town and the surrounding area and it is thought it was at this time that he drew his inspiration for Alice in Wonderland.
Kilnsey Park is a popular attraction with visitors of all ages. It has been in the Roberts family for generations, and boasts a fresh water trout farm, a nature trail with red squirrels, butterfly garden, wild flower meadow and adventure playground. The fresh water lakes are well stocked with a variety of blue, rainbow, brown and gold trout. Play areas and animal enclosures help to entertain the younger visitors. Walkers of the Kilnsey Trail are never far from crystal water cascading down Sikes Beck.
Being just a few miles out of Grassington and nestling beneath the famous Kilnsey Crag, it's the ideal spot for all ages to have fun, sample local food and drink, and enjoy conservation whilst surrounded by spectacular countryside.
